Fire crews battle four-alarm house fire in Town of Eagle

TOWN OF EAGLE (WITI) -- Fire crews battled a four-alarm house fire in the Town of Eagle Thursday night, January 31st.

Officials were dispatched to a residence on Sprague Rd. around 11:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews found a well-involved house fire. The initial investigation indicates the fire stated in the basement from a working natural fire place.

Fire crews attacked the fire aggressively, however, cold temperatures hampered their efforts. Officials say the bitter cold temperatures caused their hose lines, valves on their trucks and fire pumps on their engines to freeze.

Authorities say the occupants of the home were altered by smoke detectors and were able to escape unharmed.

Officials estimate the cost of damage at $300,000.
