Fire at home in Town of West Bend leads to $800K in damage; cause under investigation

WEST BEND -- Several fire departments were called out battle a fire at home in the Town of West Bend early Tuesday morning, October 20th. It happened around 2 a.m. at a residence on Woodland Summit.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located a single-family home that had flames on the deck that was attached to the house. The homeowners got out of the residence safely and there were no injuries.

West Bend Fire and Rescue responded and they were assisted by Allenton, Slinger, Jackson, Kewaskum, Newburg, Boltonville, St Lawrence, Fillmore and Kohlsville Fire Departments. Woodland Summit had partially restricted access while the fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue crews.

Damage to the home and contents is estimated at approximately $800,000.00 at this time.

The exact cause of the fire is not known at this time and the matter remains under investigation by Washington County Sheriff’s Office and West Bend Fire.
