Fatal pickup truck vs. motorcycle crash on Memorial Day in Town of LaGrange
WALWORTH COUNTY -- Walworth County Sheriff's officials responded to a fatal pickup truck vs. motorcycle crash on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th on U.S. Highway 12 at Tamarack Road in the Town of LaGrange.
The incident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. Monday.
Officials say 58-year-old William Geimer of Rolling Meadows, Illinois was operating a motorcycle on eastbound Highway 12 with a female passenger -- 60-year-old Cheryl Geimer.
Officials say a 1998 GMC pickup truck pulling a boat with a trailer, driven by 26-year-old Josh McCue of Waterford was traveling westbound on Highway 12 and attempted to make a left turn onto Tamarack Road.
Officials say Geimer had the right-of-way. The truck turned into the path of the motorcycle, and they collided in the intersection. The collision caused Geimer to be thrown from his motorcycle. Geimer's motorcycle struck the passenger side of the truck.
Both subjects were taken by ambulance to Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. At approximately 11:07 a.m., Geimer succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Geimer's wife remains in critical condition.
Geimer and his wife were wearing motorcycle helmets at the time of the crash.
All occupants of the truck were treated and released.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash at this time.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
