Family seeking information to solve Justin Kohen's homicide

MILWAUKEE -- The family of Justin "J.J." Kohen has put up digital billboards in the Milwaukee area seeking information that could help in solving the homicide of 28-year-old Justin Kohen.

Kohen was fatally stabbed near 16th and Cleveland back on April 3rd.

It has been nine months since Kohen's death.

"Closure is just not something you get in the death of a child, no matter what the reasons are. The uncertainty of the case, what's happened surrounding the case is what's very difficult. My son's death was an unorderly departure from this earth," Rick Kohen said.

Shortly after his death, Kohen's parents, Karen and Rick, stepped in front of cameras and microphones to make an emotional plea.

"Someone out there knows something about the murder. We are asking you to help us find the person responsible," Rick Kohen said.

Police believe a robbery attempt may have been involved in Kohen's death, but so far, investigators have not identified any suspects.

"This is our attempt to painfully keep our son's case in the news media and in the public, hoping that we can garner some tips. It's only going to be as a result of help from the community that clearly knows something that they can move forward and take the investigating in a different direction," Rick Kohen said.

Kohen's father says his son always thought about others. Now, he is asking everyone to think of his son -- and help find who's responsible for his death.

"The reality is, for Milwaukeeans there's some murderers out there. My son's murderers are at large. I don't know how you'd feel safe knowing that any murderer's out there. You have to take action now," Rick Kohen said.

Kohen's family has offered a $10,000 reward in this case.

If you have information that could help solve this crime, you're urged to call the Milwaukee Police Department.
