Enrollment events: First deadline for Health Insurance Marketplace coverage approaching

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  With just five days remaining to purchase health insurance if you want coverage to begin January 1, 2015, Mayor Tom Barrett and the City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) will continue a joint effort with the Milwaukee Enrollment Network and Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) to offer support in accessing the online Health Insurance Marketplace at select MPL branches throughout December.

Health insurance marketplace enrollment continues through February 15, 2015.

“The Milwaukee Enrollment Network and its partners, including Milwaukee Public Libraries and City of Milwaukee Health Department, are continuing a great collaboration this enrollment period,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “As individuals continue to renew their health care coverage or explore new options available to them, we are happy to offer those who need assistance accessing the online Marketplace a friendly place to go with trained staff who can answer their questions.”

Five Milwaukee Public Library branches will offer enrollment events in December, including prior to and on the December 15 deadline:

Forest Home Library Mondays 4 – 7:30 pm December 15 and 29


The City of Milwaukee Health Department will also be offering special assistance at its Southside Health Center and Northwest Health Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Individuals with questions regarding the Health Insurance Marketplace are encouraged to visit www.healthcare.gov or call (800) 318-2596. For local assistance, area residents can dial 2-1-1 to be connected to an assister in their area.
