Effort to recall State Sen. Bob Jaunch suspended
MADISON (AP) -- A committee working to recall a northern Wisconsin senator has suspended its efforts.
Shirl LaBarre of Hayward registered a committee to recall Sen. Bob Jauch, a Poplar Democrat, to punish him for opposing a bill that would have jump-started an iron mine south of Ashland.
The committee has until May 18th to collect the 15,720 signatures it would need to force Jauch into an election. Citizens for Responsible Government Network, which works to elect conservative candidates, has been helping the committee.
The group issued a statement on the committee's behalf Friday, May 11th, saying the recall has been suspended. CRG Network Field Operations Director Orville Seymer says people are focused on recalls involving Republican Gov. Scott Walker and volunteers are spread thin.
He says the effort could resume later this summer.
