RICHFIELD -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to begin work on a reconstruction project on WIS 175, from Beechwood Industrial Court to Polk Street, in the village of Richfield on Monday, March 14th.
Improvements on the project, a distance of just under two miles, will include:
The above improvements will include new concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, asphaltic pavement, along with new signing and pavement marking.
Beginning April 4, portions of the roadway will be closed long-term for reconstruction:
Business and resident access will be maintained for the majority of the project. There will be short-term driveway closures related to reconstruction. Pedestrian access will be maintained where there had been existing sidewalk, primarily in the downtown area.
Built in 1925, and with its last rehabilitation in 1990, the roadway pavement has reached the end of its useful life. The existing drainage is not adequate through this urbanized area of the village of Richfield. This project will provide bike and pedestrian accommodations, improve roadside drainage and facilitate safe and efficient travel throughout the corridor.
The contractor, Mashuda Contractors, is planning on completing the $6.64 million project in fall of 2016. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.
