DISMISSED: Federal judge throws out lawsuit filed by former Racine tavern owners

RACINE (WITI) -- A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit claiming Racine city government officials actively tried to get rid of minority-owned bars in the city's downtown area.

The suit alleged Mayor John Dickert made an effort to have the police department help keep white bar owners in business who had allegedly bankrolled the mayor's campaign, and force out minority owners.

U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller threw out the suit on grounds that it was too broad, accusing many different people of many different things.

The plaintiffs can file an amended complaint -- one Judge Stadtmueller urges to be more specific.
