Digital Donations: New apps that give back
MILWAUKEE -- Technology has done a lot for us, and now, it is helping us give back in new ways. Donating your time or money are great ways to give back, but these new digital platforms want to make it even easier.
CommuniGift was founded by Thomas Doochin and his college roommates. The site lets kids share their birthday with a child in need. Use the platform to send out digital invitations to a birthday party; guests can buy gifts for a child in need right after they RSVP.
Donate a Photo was created by Johnson & Johnson. It's a simple way to give back by doing something so many of us do on a daily basis. All you have to do is share a photo; one you've taken, or snap one in the app. Choose from a list of various causes and they'll donate one dollar for every photo you upload. Share your photo on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to inspire others. The app is available in the App Store and on Google Play.
Golden was founded by Sam Fankuchen. His idea; build a platform around the notion that there are things that you do that can add value to other people. The app is an effortless way to sign up for volunteer opportunities. You can search based on the stuff you like to do or what's local. The app also allows organizations seeking volunteers to upload their opportunities. There are plenty of opportunities in the Los Angeles area right now and Golden plans to launch in San Francisco and other areas soon.
