Developing: Strangulation, battery charges considered against Delavan police lieutenant

WALWORTH COUNTY -- Charges are being considered against a Delavan police lieutenant related to an incident that happened at his home very early on Saturday, December 19th. Officials have identified the officer as Lt. Todd Wiese. He is on administrative leave right now.

The Delavan Police Department requested assistance from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday. This was in response to an investigation involving Wiese and an adult female acquaintance.

Through the course of the investigation, Wiese was arrested that afternoon and confined in the Waukesha County Jail.

Charges are pending for strangulation, battery, and disorderly conduct. Officials say Wiese was booked and later released from jail on December 21st after signing a signature bond.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a criminal investigation into this matter; the Delavan Police Department is conducting an internal investigation. The Walworth County District Attorney’s Office is deferring this case to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office.
