DEVELOPING: Four-year-old boy struck by a vehicle in Kenosha

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha police are investigating an incident in which a four-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle near 51st St. and 22nd Ave. on Friday evening, November 7th.

Officials say the accident happened just before 5 p.m. It appears the boy may been playing outside with his older siblings.

The boy is being flown by Flight for Life to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Investigators say the driver that struck the child remained on the scene.

At this point, authorities tell FOX6 News they are considering this an accident.

"The sound of the accident was pretty traumatic, I mean he got hit really hard. He did have a substantial head injury. I'm just hoping that the paramedics got to him in time," said Raymond Salermo, witness to the accident.

Salermo was working on a building near the intersection where the crash happened. He says the driver of the car was a young woman and she was very upset. He also says the incident was clearly an accident.
