WAUKESHA (WITI) -- There is a hearing planned on Wednesday, June 11th for the two 12-year-old girls charged with the attempted murder of their friend.
The lawyer for one of the girls tells FOX6 this case is so unusual, it could involve a lengthy legal process.
At Waukesha Memorial Hospital, another low-key day with minimal visitors for the young victim so she will not be overwhelmed.
A friend of the victim's family says the parents Stacie and Joe have shared that they are amazed by how far she has come in less than one week.
A fundraising drive on the website Go Fund Me, called Hearts for the Healing, is doing well. The spokeswoman says monetary donations have been overwhelming with about $27,000 dollar donated in the first 24 hours.
The family is also asking the public to mail them purple hearts of support to blanket the little girl's room.
It was less than a week ago on Saturday, May 31st the 12-year-old was stabbed 19 times as she took a walk in the woods with her two friends.
12-year-old Morgan Geyser and 12-year-old Anissa Weier are now charged.
Geyser's lawyer, Anthony Cotton tells FOX6 he is searching for appropriate experts who can do psychological testing on one so young, charged with such a violent crime.
The search for that expert could be an international one. The attorney says traditional adult testing to determine competency and if the children are mentally ill, won't work.
Geyser had just celebrated her twelfth birthday. As for any request to put this case into juvenile court instead of adult court, that would come after preliminary hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
The victim's family shared a thank you note with the public. The note includes details about their daughter's interests.
