Democrat Russ Feingold raises nearly $3.4M in 3 months in race against Senator Ron Johnson

MADISON — Democrat Russ Feingold's campaign says he has raised nearly $3.4 million in the first quarter of the year in his race against Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

Feingold released the fundraising totals for January through March on Thursday in advance of the April 15 filing deadline. The totals surpass the nearly $2.7 million Feingold raised in the previous quarter.

Johnson has yet to release his fundraising numbers for the first quarter.

The Wisconsin Senate race is expected to be one of the most hotly contested this year as Democrats see Johnson as a vulnerable incumbent. The most recent Marquette University Law School poll released last week showed Feingold with 47 percent compared with 42 percent for Johnson, a difference within the poll's margin of error.
