Deals galore: Black Friday sales draw in thousands to malls

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- Shopping malls throughout southeast Wisconsin are seeing huge crowds on Black Friday -- and with good reason. There are deals galore for those willing to brave potentially long waits for spots in the parking lot and long lines in stores.

At Mayfair Mall, the crowds were pretty thin in the morning, come lunch time it was busier. Later in the evening, the mall was packed with people. There are even some lines people have to wait in to enter some of the stores.

6-year-old Jacob's sure he's going to be on Santa's 'nice list' this year.

"Because I got a good and bad chart and I got too many good days," said Jacob.

At Mayfair Mall, Santa's not the only one making a list. The shoppers came out in droves for Black Friday.

"This is actually much busier than I saw last year or prior years, particularly because a lot of people already did some shopping on Thursday evening," said Mayfair General Manager, Steven Smith.

Still, Smith says he's not too surprised. Many of the retailers are offering some pretty impressive deals.

"They're really trying to give people a reason to come to their store to come to the shopping center to do their business," said Smith.

It was enough for some shoppers to get them to spend their Black Friday at the mall.

FOX6 News spoke with Santa earlier, he says many kids are asking for things from the popular movie, Frozen.

Many shoppers we spoke with say they are out with family and friends, fulfilling traditions in some cases.
