MILWAUKEE -- The Greenfield Police Department are showing the moments State Representative Josh Zepnick (D - Milwaukee) was arrested, suspected of drunk driving. Zepnick says he made a "critical mistake," especially considering what his family has been through before.

It started as a routine stop -- a Greenfield officer says red flags were raised when Zepnick handed over what appeared to be a health insurance card, along with his license.
Zepnick was also very forthcoming; he admitted to drinking "a few beers" at a bar.
Officer: "How many is a few beers? 2? 4? 6?"
Zepnick: "Maybe 5-6."
But a quick test inside the car soon went outside.
Officer: "I want you to put your left foot on that line and then put that right line heel to toe on that line."
Zepnick: "You want me to do what? I'm cold."
According to police, Zepnick failed each test.

"I need you to put your hands behind your back. We're going to take you into custody for OWI," said the officer to Zepnick.
The arrest is surprising many, especially due to his past. Zepnick's sister was killed by a repeat drunk driver in 1990 -- a tragedy, the lawmaker says inspired him to run for public office.
Zepnick broke the news of his arrest himself -- apologizing saying he will "remain a committed advocate for reforming and strengthening our state's drunk driving laws. Drunk drivers must be held accountable for their actions as I expect to be held accountable for mine."
