Customer foils robbery at Great Midwest Bank



GREENFIELD (WITI) -- An attempted bank robbery at Great Midwest Bank in Greenfield was interrupted by a customer who walked in during the incident on Saturday morning, July 13th.

The robbery happened around 11:30 a.m. when a male suspect entered the bank and displayed an electric shock-type weapon. The man forced the tellers into the vault where they were bound, and he demanded money.

A patron of the bank walked in as the robbery was in progress and physically resisted the suspect.

The customer suffered minor injuries during the incident and was treated and released at the scene. The suspect fled the bank without any money and was last seen on foot in the area.

The bank robber is described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, approximately six feet tall with an average build. He was wearing a dark suit at the time of the robbery.
