Crash shuts down a portion of I-94 near WIS 50 in Kenosha County for eight hours

KENOSHA COUNTY (WITI) -- All northbound lanes on I-94  at WIS 50 in Kenosha County are now open following a traffic incident. All traffic was diverted off I-94 for nearly eight hours Tuesday morning, January 6th after a semi rolled over.

It happened around 1:22 a.m.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, the semi driver lost control, hit a median wall and rolled over on the overpass for Highway 50. Officials say the crash was weather-related.



Officials say the semi was carrying 42,000 pounds of non-hazardous material, which had to be transferred off the semi and onto another truck before I-94 could re-open.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the semi driver was not injured.

The roadway didn't reopen until around 9:00 a.m.
