Child pulled from burning home near 54th & Center
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Firefighters pulled a child from a burning home early Friday morning, December 5th.
It happened near 54th and Center.
Crews were called just before 1:30 a.m. for a report of a house fire with people trapped. Upon arrival, crews were advised that two children were missing.
During a search of the home, firefighters found a girl unconscious on the second floor. She was removed and transported to Children's Hospital. She is expected to be okay. Officials later discovered that the second child was out of the home prior to their arrival. That child showed up at the scene later.
Officials say the fire originated on the first floor in an addition built onto the home. The home did not have any working smoke detectors.
The fire caused an estimated $60,000 in damage to the building and $20,000 in damage to the contents.
