Charged in a violent armed robbery, one suspect made a critical error at the crime scene

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Police say they've arrested two people in an armed robbery -- after one of the suspects left his ID at the crime scene!

Police were dispatched to the 600 block of W. Historic Mitchell Street around noon on Thursday, August 21st for a report of a strong armed robbery at a business.

There, the owner told police one of the suspects entered the building, while the other acted as a lookout.

During the struggle, police say the suspect dropped his wallet. That wallet contained an ID card belonging to 42-year-old Angel Cruz of Milwaukee.

Police were able to take Cruz into custody one day later, on August 22nd in the 1700 block of S. 8th Street.

He later admitted to committing the crime.

The other suspect, 33-year-old Jose Hernandez-Lopez was also taken into custody and confessed to his involvement.
