Caught in the act: Two arrested for burglarizing building on Milwaukee's west side

MILWAUKEE -- Two suspects, including a convicted felon, were arrested by Milwaukee police officers after they broke into a west side building and stole several items.

District Three officers on patrol in the 800 block of N. 27th Street around 1:00 p.m. on June 29 when they saw two men pushing a shopping cart containing copper wire and a large industrial sink. The officers stopped the men and checked the building they were in front of and noticed the door was open and had been broken into.

The owner of the property arrived at the scene and told officers the suspects did not have permission to enter the building.

The two men, a 28-year-old Milwaukee man and a 33-year-old Milwaukee man, were arrested and officers found various tools that could be used to commit burglaries on one of the men. One of the suspects confessed to breaking into the building and stealing the items. The other suspect is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2004.

MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges in the coming days.
