BUSTED: Burglary suspects caught trying to break into business
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police say two burglary suspects were arrested after officers caught them in the act early on Wednesday, July 16th.
A witness called police at approximately 2:20 am and said two men were trying to break into a shoe store near Teutonia and Capitol. Police arrived at the scene and saw two suspects climbing the neighboring building and trying to reach the roof. When the suspects saw the squads, they fled on foot.
One of the suspects dropped a bag that contained various tools that could be used to commit burglaries. That suspect, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody a short time later. The second suspect, also a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, tried to cover himself up with dirt but was taken into custody.
A second bag with tools was also found. Upon further investigation, officers discovered a hole in the back of the building and the suspects tried to reach through the hole and steal items.
The case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
