Brookfield police: Suspects distracted homeowner while other suspects attempted to remove safe from home

BROOKFIELD -- Police in Brookfield are looking for the suspects responsible for a residential burglary that occurred at a home in the 15200 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Police say the victim in this incident said shortly before 11:30 a.m., two men approached him at his home and tried to distract him by claiming they would repair his roof. He walked around the outside of his home with the suspects -- described as white men with pock marks on their faces and foreign accents. They claimed to be father and son.

Police say the "father" was in his 50s, and the "son" was in his 30s.

As the victim was being distracted by the suspects, police say the victim noticed three other men had entered his home, and attempted to carry a safe from the house into the garage.

The suspects dropped the safe in the garage and fled in a gray full-sized van.

No one was injured.
