    • Britax Child Safety, Inc. has issued a voluntary precautionary product safety recall affecting certain discontinued B-Safe and Endeavor model car seats.
    • Britax says the car seats were last manufactured on May 16, 2023.
    • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the recall for 144,00 car seats is due to a screw in the carrying handle that may come loose and cause the handle to partially detach.
    • Britax says they are working on a remedy for the issue and owners will be notified by mail.

Britax Child Safety, Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain models of its B-Safe and Endeavor model car seats due to the risk of injury from a loose carrying handle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the recall for 144,00 car seats is because a screw in the carrying handle may come loose, causing the handle to partially detach.

The NHTSA says Britax notified them of the potential problem with the screw and the recall was issued.

Britax says the car seats were last manufactured on May 16, 2023, and the recall is for the following models: 

  • B-Safe 35 produced 08/20/2026–11/13/2020
  • B-Safe Gen 2 produced 02/12/2021–12/14/2022
  • B-Safe Gen 2 Flexfit produced 12/28/2020–04/25/2023
  • B-Safe Gen 2 Flexfit Plus produced 12/28/2020–05/10/2023
  • B-Safe Ultra produced 08/27/2020–02/04/2021
  • B-Safe Endeavors produced 08/24/2020–12/17/2020

What they're saying:

In a statement provided to FOX Local, Britax said:

"We have identified that, in rare cases involving extended use and wear, the carry handle may partially detach, creating a potential hazard. There have been no reports of serious injury associated with this condition. Many of the potentially affected products are also nearing the end of their designated expiration period. Caregivers are reminded never to use an expired car seat, as outlined in the product user manual. Products subject to this safety action should be carried or lifted by the shell until a remedy kit becomes available.

At Britax, children’s safety is at the heart of everything we do. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution to support families, provide clear guidance, and make an appropriate remedy available to affected customers."

The NHTSA says a remedy is currently under development by Britax and notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners by October 19, 2026.  Britax says owners may contact customer service at 888-427-4829 and should register their car seats at us.britax.com/registration to receive recall updates directly from Britax,
