'Absolutely bone chilling:' Man shot, killed near 1st and Maple in Milwaukee



MILWAUKEE -- A 39-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday morning, Dec. 31 on Milwaukee's south side. It happened in the area of 1st and Maple around 1:30 a.m.

"I think there were multiple shots," said Rosa Rodriguez.

The sound of gunfire rattled Chip Beach and his wife Rosa Rodriguez early Monday morning. They peeked outside -- and saw a scene that was disturbing.

"To have an actual murder at the end of my driveway, it's just absolutely bone chilling," said Rodriguez.

The couple called 911 -- and said the gunfire came with no warning.

"We didn't hear a fight or screaming, anything like that," said Rodriguez.

When police arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from a serious gunshot wound. Officers and first responders with the Milwaukee Fire Department performed life-saving efforts, however, the victim died on the scene.

"I just saw this swarm of officers on top of him, trying to do CPR," said Rodriguez.

"I'm sure he had someone who loved him or cared about him at one point. It's got to be tough for them to go into this," said Beach.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Robert Graun. The motive and circumstances that led to the shooting remain under investigation. MPD is seeking suspects.
