Aaron Jones sentenced for his role in shooting death of Michael Powell
MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced 27-year-old Aaron Jones on Monday, November 16th to three years probation and 30 days at the House of Correction (HOC) for his role in the shooting death of Michael Powell.
Powell was shot to death near 29th and Melvina on April 14th.
The judge on Monday first sentenced Jones to two years in prison and two years of extended supervision. That sentence was then stayed -- and Jones was given the probation and time at HOC.
Jones pleaded “no contest” to a charge of adjudged delinquent in possession of a firearm on November 9th. During that same court appearance, a charge of second-degree intentional homicide was dismissed.
In connection with this case, 25-year-old Aric Jones pleaded guilty on October 19th to one count of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon/explosive, use of a dangerous weapon, penalties for felonies – “Class G” felony. A possession of a firearm by a felon charge was dismissed.
Aric Jones will be sentenced on December 7th.
