A meaty reward! Owner of Danny's Meats offers free meat after his plow blade, trailer were stolen

CALEDONIA (WITI) -- The owner of Danny's Meats in Caledonia offered an unusual reward after his plow blade and the trailer the blade was being stored on were stolen on Friday, January 2nd -- meat!

Police say the theft occurred between 5:45 p.m. Friday and 9:00 Saturday morning. They say the plow blade and the trailer were stolen from the Zone 2 Extreme Sport Shop, located at 4543 Douglas Avenue in Caledonia.

Police say no marks or prints were left in the snow that fell Friday night by whoever stolen the plow.

After reporting the theft to police, Danny's Meats owner Dan Johnson says he decided to post about the theft on the Facebook page for Danny's Meats -- offering free meat as a reward.

On Tuesday morning, January 6th, Johnson says he got a call, and he learned the plow blade and trailer had been found.

A woman spotted the plow blade and trailer on the side of the road near Crown Chase Drive in Caledonia -- near the intersection of Five Mile Road and Highway 31 in Caledonia.

To express his gratitude, Johnson met up with the woman who found the blade and trailer and offered her whatever she wanted from his store. The woman initially said she didn't want the free meat -- but instead asked if Johnson would plow her driveway -- something he agreed to.

The woman says she noticed the plow blade and trailer when she nearly hit them Tuesday morning.

The woman says the plow was on her neighbor’s property, and there were huge ruts in her neighbor’s yard.  She says she called the meat shop after hearing about the theft on the radio and being told it was on the front page of the newspaper.

She says Johnson was thrilled when she called, and she waited by the plow until he came to pick it up.
