6 arrested after man is beaten to death on Milwaukee's south side
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Police responded to a report of a fight in the street, and when they arrived they found a 40-year-old man who appeared to be beaten. Life saving efforts by the Milwaukee Fire Department were unsuccessful and the victim died as a result of the injures.
The incident occurred in the 3300 block of W. Lapham at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1st.
The circumstances that lead up to the altercation are still under investigation.
Milwaukee Police canvassing the area near 33rd and Lapham, hours after a man was beaten and killed. It has neighbors on edge.
Efren Estrada says his uncle, 40-year-old Alfonso Estrada was the victim.
A neighbor says she saw the fight about 2:30 a.m. She says, a group of men were beating and kicking the victim in his head before taking off in two cars.
A short time later officers located the suspects vehicle that had been described by witnesses and arrested 6 suspects.
The suspects arrested are all from Milwaukee including 3 males ages 29, 24, and 27 as well as 3 females ages 34, 23, and 27.
What caused the fight is still unknown. Estrada says he believes his uncle was driving home from a local bar, and may have been followed.
Charges on the suspects are pending, the case will be reviewed by the district attorneys office in the coming days.
Police have not confirmed the name of the victim.
