40-year-old man shot during armed robbery in Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- Officials in Racine say two people were arrested following an armed robbery and shooting incident at Sixteenth Street Foods on 16th Street.

Racine police say two masked suspects entered the store and ordered workers and patrons to the ground. In the process, one patron (a 40-year-old white male) was shot in the chest.

The suspects then fled the scene.

While officers were on scene, they received information that a party with a possible gunshot wound to the leg was outside of Twins Food Mart on 16th Street.

Officers responded to that location and quickly located the injured party who was transported to Wheaton Franciscan for treatment.

That individual, a 16-year-old black male has been taken into custody in connection with the armed robbery/shooting investigation.

A 21-year-old black male is also in custody.

The 40-year-old patron and 16-year-old suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
