38-year-old man struck by vehicle & killed in Walworth County; striking driver arrested for OWI

 

WALWORTH COUNTY -- Walworth County Sheriff's officials say a 38-year-old West Salem man was killed when he was struck by a car early Monday morning, August 10th on Highway 120, just south of Highway D in Spring Prairie Township.

It happened just after 1:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered 38-year-old Chad Kneesel lying in the roadway unresponsive.  Life-saving efforts were administered by deputies and responding medical units.  Kneesel was transported by ambulance to a local trauma center, where he died a short time later.

An initial investigation has revealed a vehicle was headed southbound on Highway 120 and struck Kneesel, who was walking in the roadway.

The driver of the striking vehicle was arrested for OWI.

Evidence found at the scene indicates that Kneesel had walked away from Alpine Valley Music Theater after attending the Phish concert.

The striking driver was not coming from the concert.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate this incident.
