34-year-old man taken into custody following shots fired incident on city's north side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A convicted felon was taken into custody by Milwaukee police following a shooting incident on Milwaukee’s north side.

Officers from MPD’s Neighborhood Task Force and District 5 responded to the area of N. 24th Street and W. Auer Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16th for a report of a subject with a gun.

Witnesses told police that the suspect fired a gunshot inside a home following a verbal altercation. No one inside the home was injured and the suspect fled on foot. A short time later, responding officers saw a suspect matching the description walking N. 24th and Townsend and attempted to stop him. The suspect ran away and threw his gun to the ground.

Following a short foot pursuit, the 34-year-old Milwaukee man was taken into custody. The suspect is a convicted felon with a 2005 felony aggravated battery conviction.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
