19 cats removed from Racine home during formal eviction

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say 19 cats were removed from a home on Phillips Avenue when officials were serving an eviction at the home at the request of the home's landlord.

Sheriff's officials say when the eviction was served Thursday morning, June 27th, the tenant wasn't home, but 19 cats found in the home were taken to the Humane Society.

Officials say the cats appeared to be in good health, and there was food and water available for them, as well as a litter box.

It is unclear at this time whether the tenant has yet been located.
