12-year-old driver, four other teens arrested after stolen vehicle hits tree

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say five teenagers were taken into custody after a vehicle they were in struck a tree during a pursuit.

The crash happened on Thursday, January 21st near 19th and Locust.

Police say shortly after 12:30 p.m., an officer on patrol near 25th and Locust spotted a vehicle that was taken in an armed robbery on Wednesday, January 20th on Milwaukee's south side.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused, and a pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, the vehicle struck a tree near 19th and Locust.

Five suspects then fled the vehicle on foot. All five suspects were taken into custody after a foot pursuit.

Police say the driver is a 12-year-old boy from Milwaukee. He, and four other suspects ranging in age from 13 to 16 were arrested.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
