1 killed, 1 seriously hurt in head-on crash on I-94 in Delafield

DELAFIELD -- Officials with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department say one person was killed, and one person was seriously injured in a crash that happened on I-94 west of County Highway SS in Delafield Tuesday evening, July 19th.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. It was reported that a vehicle headed westbound on I-94 crossed the median into eastbound traffic and a head-on crash occurred.

An investigation has revealed an 18-year-old woman from Waukesha was headed westbound when her vehicle crashed head-on into a vehicle headed eastbound -- driven by a 22-year-old Delafield woman.

A 67-year-old woman, a passenger in the westbound vehicle driven by the Waukesha woman was pronounced dead at Froedtert Hospital. She has been identified as Melinda Malison.

The 18-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle suffered serious injuries, and was taken to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life.

The 22-year-old Delafield woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The freeway was closed for several hours during this investigation.
