Time to start “hilling” the leeks and potatoes – even ones growing in bags, barrels

MILWAUKEE -- Little foamy white globs are showing up on many of the flowering plants in the garden. The foam is  made by an insect to keep it moist and out of sight. Fortunately, they are easy to manage.

Another pest is on the vegetables, especially the mustard family crops, which makes distinctive tiny holes in the leaves. This one is more of a challenge to handle.

Time to start “hilling” the leeks and potatoes – even the ones we are growing in bags and barrels.
