Wis. Lutheran wins Division 2 State title, beats Rice Lake 61-46

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Anthony Carver scored 18 points to lead Wisconsin Lutheran to a WIAA state championship as the Vikings defeated Rice Lake 61-46 in the Division 2 title game on Saturday.

Wisconsin Lutheran (26-2) frustrated Rice Lake's star center Henry Ellenson and held the Warriors to 39.6 percent shooting from the game, a number bolstered late in the fourth quarter with the outcome already decided.

Ellenson had 13 points and 10 rebounds by halftime, but the Warriors (23-3) trailed 28-18. His 3-pointer with 3:24 to go in the second quarter brought Rice Lake within 23-18, but the Vikings scored the next 13 points and led by double-digits the rest of the way.

Carver, the only Wisconsin Lutheran player to score in double figures, shot 8 of 13 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds.

Ellenson finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
