Three quarterbacks for the first time since 2008: Packers 53-man roster is set

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Backup quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien both made the team as the Green Bay Packers trimmed their roster to the NFL's 53-man limit on Saturday afternoon, August 30th.

The Green Bay Packers have released 18 players, and have placed four on injured reserve.

T Aaron Adams, LB Nate Palmer, TE Jake Stoneburner and DT Khyri Thornton have been placed on injured reserve.

The Packers released S Chris Banjo, WR Kevin Dorsey, LB Jake Doughty, T John Fullington, C Garth Gerhart, WR Alex Gillett, DT Carlos Gray, RB Michael Hill, LB Adrian Hubbard, G Jordan McCray, S Tanner Miller, TE Justin Perillo, RB LaDarius Perkins, DE Luther Robinson, CB Jumal Rolle, T Jeremy Vujnovich, WR Myles White and CB Ryan White.

Banjo played every game and made one start last season for the Packers as an undrafted rookie. White also saw game action as an undrafted rookie with the team in 2013. Dorsey, a seventh-round draft pick by Green Bay, missed his entire rookie season last year with a toe injury.

Tight end Jake Stoneburner, among the players to go on the injured-reserve list appeared in nine games with Green Bay as an undrafted rookie last season.

Teams had until 4:00 p.m. EDT Saturday to set their roster for the start of the season.

Flynn and Tolzien had a competitive preseason competition behind star quarterback Aaron Rodgers the last month. The previous time the Packers kept three quarterbacks going into a season was 2008, Rodgers' first year as an NFL starter.

The Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 34-14 in their final preseason game on Thursday, August 28th.

They take on the Seattle Seahawks in the regular season opener on Thursday, September 4th at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
