Quiet bats doom Brewers in 3-1 loss

PITTSBURGH -- The Brewers managed only 6 hits and went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position during a 3-1 loss to the Pirates at PNC Park Wednesday night. Milwaukee's only run scored on Rickie Weeks' third homer of the season.  However, after his blast cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the 7th, his throwing error in the bottom of the 8th allowed Pittsburgh to score an insurance run.

Yovani Gallardo was the loser, allowing Neil Walker's two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning.  He threw 97 pitches in 6 innings.

Earlier in the day, the Brewers decided to bring veteran reliever Francisco Rodriguez up from the minor leagues, rather than allow him to opt out of his contract.  He officiallly joins the roster on Thursday.
