GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers and Sargento this year will mark their 11th season of “Touchdowns for Charity,” a program that helps alleviate hunger in Wisconsin through contributions to the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay.
For each touchdown scored by the Packers during the regular season, Sargento will donate $1,000 to the Hunger Task Force and $500 to Paul’s Pantry.
“Like a great running back who fights for every inch, we’re dedicated to fighting hunger one touchdown at a time,” said Louie Gentine, president and chief customer officer of Sargento Foods Inc. “As the official cheese of the Green Bay Packers, Sargento is proud to give Packers fans another reason to root for the green and gold.”
Since partnering 11 years ago, Sargento has contributed more than $920,500 to Wisconsin food charities.
During Packers home games, announcements will be made after every touchdown indicating the support for the program. In addition, Packers.com will feature rotating advertisements, including a Sargento touchdown ticker, which will provide updated donation totals throughout the season.
Sargento, a family-owned, Wisconsin-based company, is supporting Packers’ sponsorship throughout Wisconsin grocery retailers during the season with in-store product promotions to generate excitement with Packers fans. Sargento is also present at Lambeau in concessions with cheeseburgers featuring Sargento Deli Style Mild Cheddar cheese and breaded natural Cheddar cheese curds.
