Packers release backup quarterback Vince Young
GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Vince Young will not be the Green Bay Packers' backup quarterback. The former first-round pick, who was signed on August 5th, was released on Saturday, August 31st.
It is the second straight season that Young, the third overall pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2006 draft, failed to make a team coming out of training camp. He was released by the Buffalo Bills last August and spent all of the 2012 season out of football.
Young played in all four preseason games for the Packers despite limited knowledge of the team's offense. In his most extensive playing time of the preseason, he completed 14 of 30 passes for 144 yards without a touchdown or interception at Kansas City.
Young fumbled twice, losing one, and led only two scoring drives against the Chief, both of which ended with field goals.
