Packers fans show support for Driver, on sidelines in last week's game

GREEN BAY -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver spent Saturday's Wild Card playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings on the sidelines -- leading some Packers fans to wonder why #80 wasn't dressed. Now, fans have taken to Facebook, calling for Driver's re-activation.

On Monday, January 7th, Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy shared his message regarding the apparent misunderstanding.

"Donald Driver is a class act, to say the least. I mean, he's a pro's pro. We've had conversations of late with what's going on with him being active and inactive and he's handled it very well. He's an excellent teammate. Everybody, clearly understands what he means to this organization and what he's done," McCarthy said.

Now, thousands have showed their favor for the "Please Play Donald Driver" and the "Activate Donald Driver" Facebook pages.

During Monday's airing of "The Big Show" on AM 1250 WSSP, co-host and former Packers running back Gary Ellerson said Driver's status was the topic of conversation, with about a 50-50 split of fans who want Driver on the field and those who are ready to say goodbye. However, Ellerson says both groups should be aware that Driver has yet to declare himself done.

"We've never heard Donald say 'this is it,' Ellerson said.

Ellerson said in his opinion, Driver ranks behind Bart Starr in terms of Packers fan favorites.
