Packers don't tag free agent Flynn

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers did not use the franchise tag on Matt Flynn before Monday's 3pm deadline, which allows the soon-to-be unrestricted free-agent quarterback the ability to leave when the market opens next week.

Had the Pack opted to tag Aaron Rodgers' backup, they would have had to pay him over $14 million next season (unless they worked a sign and trade, which is frowned upon by the NFL).

Green Bay could still wind up with a compensatory pick for Flynn in 2013.

The Packers did not use the franchise tag on any other player.
