Not in the Cards; Brewers lose, 4-2
ST. LOUIS -- John Axford never left the bullpen for St. Louis, but his new team beat his old team, 4-2 at Busch Stadium Tuesday night. The Brewers now have 19 games remaining in 19 days to conclude the regular season. The Redbirds, on the other hand, are sitting atop the National League Central division and making their playoff plans.
Wily Peralta turned in a very strong start for Milwaukee, not allowing a hit for five and 2/3 innings before Matt Holliday ripped him for a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. Peralta left in the next frame, having allowed only two hits on the evening. However, the Cards tacked on a couple more runs. The home team had enough cushion to withstand Logan Schafer's two-run homer for the Brewers in the top of the ninth.
