No offense, but Brewers lose quietly, 3-zip
MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers rolled into Miller Park on Monday night after an eye-popping 6 and 1 road trip. However, they went down quietly to the Washington Nationals, 3-0. Milwaukee could only muster 3 hits all night in dropping the opener of a seven game homestand.
Gio Gonzalez handcuffed all of the Brewers, including Carlos Gomez. The outfielder's hitting streak ended after 18 games and his reaching base safely run is over after 35 straight contests.
There was some good news for the Crew earlier in the day when the latest NL All-Star voting results were released. Gomez is now third in the outfield, which would make him a starter for the game in Minnesota next month. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez is the leader at his position, meaning he would also start. Catcher Jonathan Lucroy and shortstop Jean Segura are second at their respective spots.
