New Berlin football comes together for greater cause

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- Two arch rivals met on the high school gridiron tonight. But the community came together for a greater cause on Friday, September 5th.

New Berlin Eisenhower High School vs. New Berlin West High School played for the 43rd straight year on Friday.

A group, Decca, passed out hats in the concession stands, raising money for muscular dystrophy.

"Beyond just being a  great rivalry cross town with New Berlin West, it's an opportunity for our community leaders to come through and actually donate some money to MDA, a great cause that out Decca , which is our business students throughout the school put together, that's their foundation that they always fund-raise for each year and we're gonna use this event today Ike vs West to champion that effort and help folks out at the MDA," said Kevin Fitzgerald, New Berlin Eisenhower Athletic Director.

Many are familiar with a young lady named Reagan Imhoff, she is National Ambassador for MDA 2014, she is very happy about raising money to help the cause.

"I'm really happy that both schools are just teaming up together trying to raise money for MDA, and it's really great," said Imhoff

Imhoff's parents are very happy about this fundraiser their daughter is spreading awareness for.

"This is so great to have our local community rally around Reagan like this. I mean all year long we've been going  around the country speaking of MDA and she's done such a great job but it's so nice to feel all the love right back in our own yard," said Jenny Imhoff, Reagan's mother.

"She makes us very proud but you know like jenny said, watching her grow up and really taking a hold and representing MDA to the best of her ability is just fantastic. She's really making an impact on people and raising awareness," said Reagan's father, Joe Imhoff.
