Marshfield man arrested, accused of promising Packers tickets and never delivering

MARSHFIELD (WITI) -- Marshfield police have arrested a 37-year-old Marshfield man in a Packers ticket scam.

Police have been investigating several incidents involving alleged fraudulent sales of Green Bay Packers tickets -- and they have determined that the 37-year-old Marshfield man allegedly received more than $46,000 in payment from a total of 15 victims for game tickets that he promised, but never produced.

This scam affected residents from communities across the state of Wisconsin -- including Auburndale, Chippewa Falls, Fond du Lac, Marshfield, Plover, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids.

Police say the 37-year-old Marshfield man has been cooperative during this investigation -- but police say the majority of the money he has received in this case can't be recovered because of extensive losses attributed to ongoing gambling issues.

A request for charges against the Marshfield man has been referred to the Wood County District Attorney's Office.
