Marquette rolls past Pittsburgh into 1st place

MILWAUKEE (WITI)---The BMO Harris Bradley Center has become a place where visiting teams don't want to play which was evident on Saturday when number 18 Marquette knocked of number 16 Pittsburgh 79-69. Marquette has now won 23 straight games on their home court.

The Golden Eagles used a 14-4 run to pull away from the Panthers and close out the first half with a 13 point lead. The run was capped off by a Vander Blue 3 pointer. Blue finished the game with 19 points.

In the second half, MU didn't let up, stretching their lead to as many as 17. The Panthers would close that lead to 11 before Marquette went on another run sparked by 6 straight points by Davante Gardner who finished with 14 in the game.

The Golden Eagles improved to 18-6 overall and 9-3 in the Big East. They are tied with Syracuse and Georgetown on top of the Big East standings. On Tuesday Marquette will face Seton Hall on the road..
