Lake Geneva swimming coach to receive kidney transplant
LAKE GENEVA (WITI) -- Life is good for Glenn Biller. The former All-American swimmer has led the Lake Geneva Badger High School girl's swimming team to a conference championship and the first sectional title in school history.
Biller, who doubles as a personal trainer, is passionate about the sport and the youngsters he leads.
Biller calls himself blessed to have Jackie, his beautiful soulmate through 16 years of marriage and sons, 11-year-old Jackson and nine-year-old Carson.
But 42-year-old Biller also has a disease.
As it turns out, Biller's donor was the person he's become like one with after all these years: his wife! The transplant will take place on February 7th.
Son Jackson has the disease too, but Jackie figures by the time he might need a new kidney, she'll be too old -- the time to give the gift of life and love was now.
The Billers are giving people. Their ordeal has given those they've impacted a chance to pay it forward. People they've never met have come alongside Glenn and Jackie to share their own experiences.
Even with the kidney transplant, there's a chance of rejection, but through it all, they've gained perspective of what's truly important.
Nadine Seitz has been close with the couple. She is one of those who have been instrumental in setting up a fundraiser this Sunday to help defray medical costs. The Billers are allowing the kidney foundation to do a documentary on their procedure to try to use their situation to help others.
The "Rebuilding Biller's Body" fundraiser is planned for Sunday, January 27th at Pier 290 in Williams Bay from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
