James Jones, FOX6 encourage donations for Defeat Hunger Bowl

GREENFIELD (WITI) -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones was in Greenfield on Tuesday, January 7th to kick off a campaign to defeat hunger in Wisconsin.

Jones is teaming up with Walmart, Sam's Club and FOX6 for the second annual "Defeat Hunger Bowl."

Starting Wednesday, January 8th and running through February 8th, people can donate non-perishable food items at Walmart and Sam's Club stores in Wisconsin.

All of the food will then be donated to Feeding America food banks.

"When that guy up there said over 100,00 kids are out there with no food -- if anybody's watching this or if anybody understands how many people that is -- that's a lot of people. So if you can, get out there and donate whatever you can," Jones said.

"This food drive couldn't come at a better time. Food doantions typically dwidle after the holidays, and with the dangerously cold weather that we are experiencing, we just can't afford to have our shelves go unstocked at the food bank," Gina Styer with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin said.

Besides donations brought in, many of the Walmart stores will also have pre-packaged $5 food donations available.
