Hannah Storm issues grilling safety PSA ahead of Super Bowl weekend
WASHINGTON (WITI) -- Those getting out the grill for the Super Bowl this weekend now have a reminder to play it safe.
The National Fire Protection Association is collaborating with ESPN SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm for a series of home fire safety PSAs.
Storm was recently burned when her propane grill nearly blew up.
"I'm Hanna Storm. A recent grilling accident at my left me with first and second degree burns on my face, neck, chest and hands. It was a painful, traumatic experience. Don't let this happen to you or to someone you love. If you're grilling this weekend, especially during the Super Bowl, and your grill goes out for any reason, remember, turn off the gas, wait at least fifteen minutes before you attempt to restart. And, read all your grill safety instructions," Storm says in the PSA.
If the flame goes out, grillers should immediately turn off the gas and the grill and wait at least 15 minutes before trying to re-light it.
