Gorzelanny shines, but unearned runs beat Brewers

MILWAUKEE (WITI)---Two errors by Juan Francisco led to both of the New York Mets runs Sunday as they beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1.

Tom Gorzelanny pitched 6 solid innings in a spot start for the Brewers. He gave up 8 hits, not walking a batter, while striking out 8.

In the 4th inning, Francisco's wild throw to first allowed Josh Satin to score the Mets first run.

In the 6th, another throwing error by Francisco allowed Marlin Byrd to take 2nd base. He would score on Satin's double giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.

Once again, the Brewers offense struggled. They had 2 infield singles until the 7th inning when Jonathan Lucroy hit a solo home run into the Brewers bullpen cutting the New York lead to 2-1.

The Brewers tried to rally in the 9th inning when Francisco earned a 2 out walk. But Rickie Weeks grounded out to end the game.

After the game Manager Ron Roenicke said that Gorzelanny might be put into the rotation again after his effort on Sunday.

Monday, the Cincinnati Reds come to Miller Park for a 3 game series.
